macBook Pro 13-inch 2020

Apple updates the MacBook Pro line-up for 2020 with a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro. Let’s take a look at the newly updated model and also what Apple has in store for its future laptops

Apple is rumoured to be working on a new 14-inch laptop, which might replace the 13-inch, set to release alongside a refreshed 16-inch MacBook Pro.

An update to the MacBook Pro 13 was expected for a few months now. However, it was actually a little more wide-ranging than expected.

The new MacBook Pro did get the most demanded feature – the Magic Keyboard. First introduced in the MacBook Pro 16, the revamped scissor-switch-enabled Magic Keyboard. The much-derided butterfly switches are now completely gone from the Apple line-up. That alone would be reason to celebrate, but there’s more to dissect.

Apple introduces the Intel’s 10th Gen Ice Lake processors to the MacBook Pro, boasting up to 3.8 GHz speeds but also 80% faster graphics performance. These come with improved Intel Iris Plus graphics, too. But, the two entry-level models are still on Intel’s 8th-generation processors. If you want this performance boost, you will have to fork out for the more higher-end models.

MacBook Pro 2020 price

The 13-inch MacBook Pro 2020 has an AED 5,459 starting price, featuring Intel’s 1.4GHz 8th Generation i5 processor, 8GB RAM with a 256GB SSD storage and AED 6,299 for the 512GB SSD storage option.

The 2.0GHz quad-core 10th-generation Intel Core i5 processor with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD storage starts at AED 7,599 and the 1TB SSD storage option will set you back AED 8,439.

MacBook Pro 2020 Magic keyboard

The MacBook Pro 13-inch 2020 has been updated with the Magic Keyboard, Just like the MacBook Pro 16-inch 2019 and the MacBook AIr 2020. Apple’s entire laptop line-up comes with the new Magic Keyboard.

The new stable scissor mechanism reduces keyboard profile, while improving key travel and accuracy. It provide a comfortable and precise typing experience, and is easily the biggest upgrade here.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro features the Touch Bar, a multi-touch-enabled OLED strip along the keyboard, a Touch ID, and a physical Escape key too.

The MacBook Pro 2020 keeps the same Retina display. The display has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels with 500 nits of brightness, and a wide color (P3) support. With Apple’s True Tone technology, the display can change the color temperature based on ambient lighting conditions.

MacBook Pro 2020 outlook

The MacBook Pro 2020 is not the major overhaul we were hoping for based on the rumors. But it comes with enough upgrades that Apple needed to in order to make the 13-inch MacBook Pro competitive.

Apple is finally equipping the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Intel’s 10th Generation processors, faster RAM and increased storage.

The updated Magic Keyboard might be just the reason for many consider the new 13-inch option from Apple.

But the big catch here is that, the entry-level configurations are still sporting the 8th generation chips Which means you’ll have to pay at least AED 8,439 for the true pro MacBook Pro. The highest model in the range when fully optioned out, with 2.3GHz 10th generation i-7 processor, 32GB RAM and a 4TB SSD storage, cost an eye watering AED 15,159.
